Before you make your decision, let me show you the similarities and differences, the advantages and disadvantages.
I will also reveal my favorite. 👍

At first, it was easy.
You want a gimbal to make better videos with your smartphone.
You researched the internet and found the best smartphone stabilizer.
Then DJI Osmo Pocket came along.
Now you are undecided, but you have to pick one.
When I say you have to pick one, I mean when you go outside Vlogging or traveling, you don’t want to carry too many things.
That brings us to the first point.
STARTUP TIME
When I am out and about and I see something I want to shoot, I take out my gimbal.
The DJI Osmo Pocket takes 6 seconds.
The Zhiyun Smooth 4 takes more than 6 seconds to set up and start.
DJI Osmo Pocket wins. 👍
Want to buy the DJI Osmo Pocket now? Wait! Check out the price.

BUYING PRICE
As of right now, May 2019…
Smooth 4 is $120: https://videolane.com/zhiyunsmooth4
Osmo Pocket is $350: https://videolane.com/dji-osmo-pocket
You may say the Osmo Pocket is way more expensive, but wait…
The Osmo Pocket comes with a camera.
On Smooth 4, you need to plug in your smartphone camera, which will definitely cost more than the Osmo Pocket alone.
DJI Osmo Pocket wins.👍
Now let’s talk about the phone.
CAMERA vs PHONE
What happens when you need to answer a call while you are shooting with your phone?
A dedicated camera won’t get in the way.
What happens when you are shooting motion time-lapse with your phone? What are you going to do for 20 minutes without a phone?
A dedicated camera does what it’s designed to do.
Your smartphone selfie camera quality is usually worse than the main camera.
The same high-quality camera on the DJI Osmo Pocket flips around to shoot your selfie.
DJI Osmo Pocket wins.👍
So now you ask, is the camera quality on the DJI Osmo Pocket really that good?
CAMERA QUALITY
It all depends on what phone you are comparing with.
This is very unfair but I’m going to compare it with my Samsung Galaxy S10.
Take a look at the side by side comparison, both shot in automatic mode and without any color correction in the edit.

Outdoor
Walking
Running
Backlight
Low light
Mic Test
The final comparison sets them apart.
My S10 can go wide, go tele, and focus on near objects.
Osmo Pocket can’t do any of those.
Samsung Galaxy S10 wins. 👍
Let’s do one more really really unfair comparison.
ACTION CAM
Just like the GoPro, I can wear the Osmo Pocket on my head.
Don’t try that with the Smooth 4.
