Let’s jump right in.

YouTube for Business

I started my YouTube channel for fun until one day I got a million views for a video that went viral.

Then I realised making money from YouTube is a reality, so I was inspired to create more videos.

Fast forward to today, The channel has got over 4 million views and over 7700 growing subscribers.

I made one product review of something I bought, which led to the brand giving me their new product to review, which in turn led a competitor brand sending their product to me for review… and it kept going onand onand onand on

Here’s the thing. I now have so many free products to make product reviews… which the brands link to… which leads to more views on the videos… which leads to more subscribers on my channel… which leads to more sales… and yes, I make a commission out of each sale of the product I am reviewing.

How did that happen? Luckily, I documented the process.

So here’s my 7-step video marketing strategy I personally follow right now (including video content creation) for generating sales and leads.

1. Writing the Script

  • Identify the goal of the video. What is that one message? What do you want the viewer to do? Basically to get sales or leads.
  • Identify the target audience? What problem do they want to solve? What will they like to see?
  • Research keyword search volume and related keywords with Keyword Everywhere.
  • Follow the 5-step story structure
    (Follow the fill-in-the-blank template)
    • Hook (5 to 10 seconds)
    • Introduction
    • Content
    • Bonus
    • Call to Action
  • Write the Script in a blog post (killing 2 birds with one stone).

2. Optimizing Blog Post

  • Email the blog post to subscribers with the direct link to the bonus.
  • After emailing, redirect the bonus link in the blog post to an email capture page to invite new subscribers.
  • Share blog post to Facebook, Linkedin, Twitter, Pinterest, and Google Business.

3. Creating Video Content

  • Shoot the video content based on the script. Ensure good lighting and audio capture.
  • Edit the video content based on the script using Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or Filmora.
  • Add text in the video with the URL link to the product or the bonus.

4. Posting First Round

  • Upload video to YouTube first.
    (Follow the YouTube optimization checklist)
  • Upload video to Vimeo as backup.
  • Embed YouTube video into the blog post.
  • Upload video to Linkedin to gather suggested tags. Copy the hashtags.
  • Correct and download the captions generated from YouTube.

5. Posting with Captions and Tags

  • Edit the captions into the video.
  • Upload video with caption to Facebook and IGTV.
  • Copy the text from the blog post into the description and include the tags.

6. Creating Teaser Versions

  • Edit and extract interesting parts of the video. 30 seconds to 1 minute
  • Post teaser to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Google Business.
  • Link all the teasers back to the blog post or the YouTube video.

7. Widening the Loop

  • Move on to the next video when the 6 steps are completed (within a day, by yourself, for free).
  • Create a playlist of your own related videos and link all videos to the playlist.
  • Reply and react to every comment.
  • Analyse the view count and audience retention stats. Learn what’s working and what’s not. Use Tube Buddy.
  • Double down. Which of your video is most popular? Create more videos related to that topic.

Let’s Get Started

PS: Extra notes…

  • The content that performs best on YouTube are reviews, how-to’s, vlogs, favorites / best of recaps, Top X of Y, X-Step Process, and educational videos.
  • The videos that perform best on Facebook fall under the categories of inspiring, entertaining, funny and informative.
  • If your target audience are Millennials and Gen Z, try Snapchat, Twitter, and Instagram.
  • The ideal length for YouTube videos is between 8 to 10 minutes.
  • The ideal time for a Facebook video is between 30 seconds and two minutes.

How to get more YouTube comments

  1. Instead of just telling the viewer to leave a comment, make it easy for the viewer by asking a question and telling the viewer to leave the answer in the comments.
  2. Highlight and include comments in your video. Show viewers that they matter.
  3. Use another social platform to tell people to leave a comment on your YouTube video.

Why? When there is engagement, YouTube will show your video to more people. It works on LinkedIn and Facebook too.
