Release Date
When did the MX1 and MX2 come out?
The first MOZA Mini MX 1 was released in July 2020.
MOZA Mini MX 2 was released in October 2021.
That means some of us may have bought the MX1 less than a year before the MX 2 came out.
What’s the big difference between the MX2 and the original MX?
The BIG Difference
MX2 is the World’s First Auto-sense Smartphone Gimbal. The auto-sense phone holder can precisely clamp and release your phone automatically.
The traditional method is to manually insert and balance the phone yourself.
The first MX boasts the ability to hold larger heavier phones. That spec is known as Payload Capacity.
Payload Capacity
What is the gimbal payload? How much weight can the gimbals carry?
Both gimbals support a maximum payload capacity of 280g/9.9oz.
The large iPhone 13 Pro Max weighs 240g/8.48oz.
The iPhone 12 Pro Max is even lighter at 228g/8.03oz.
Can you use the gimbals with the phone case on?
That brings us to the related topic of phone compatibility.
Phone Compatibility
Will they work with iPhones? Which gimbal is best for Android? What phones are compatible?
There are 2 considerations.

Can it hold the weight and size of the phone?
Does the phone work well with the Gimbal app?
From my tests, I found that the iPhone gets more features from the gimbal app. than Android phones.
Can I use the gimbals without the app?
Use Without App
There is a misconception that we must use an app to operate the gimbal.
In fact, I prefer to use my phone’s higher-quality native camera than to use the gimbal app camera.
Without the app, we have the following modes.
Inception mode, Phone Go, vertical mode, re-center, Pan follow, tilt follow, yaw follow, FPV mode
MOZA Genie App
How do I connect my MOZA Genie?
What app do the gimbals use?
What does the MOZA Genie app do?
Smart gesture control, Magic mode, slow motion, timelapse, inception mode, sport mode, face tracking, vertigo
App camera, zoom control, focus control, object tracking, timelapse, panorama, smart gesture control, slow motion, quick lookback, manual mode, automatic editing template shooting (Magic Mode)

Battery Life
How long do the batteries last?
On paper, this is the other difference I can see.
The MX battery life is 20 hours while the MX2 is 24 hours, though that have the same battery capacity.
How long do they take to charge?
Both take 2.5 hours to charge.
Is it Worth Buying
Is it worth upgrading from the MX to the MX 2?
With the automated phone holder and longer battery life, maybe.
Price
As at October 2021, the MX is US$89 while the MX2 is US$109
