YouTube Shorts are short-form videos that last up to 60 seconds and are optimized for mobile viewing.
They are a great way to showcase your skills, share tips and tricks, and attract new customers to your business.
In this blog post, I’m going to share with you how I used YouTube Shorts to grow my business and what I learned from this experience.
I’ll also show you an example of my YouTube Shorts and how it drove traffic to my website.
Here are the three key takeaways from my YouTube Shorts journey.
YouTube Shorts can have a long-lasting impact and reach new audiences over time
Unlike other platforms like TikTok or Instagram Reels, where views tend to drop off after a while, YouTube Shorts can keep getting views and exposure for a long time.
This is because YouTube Shorts are part of the YouTube ecosystem and can be discovered by users who are searching for related topics or browsing through recommendations.
For example, one of my YouTube Shorts that I posted over a year ago is still getting views and comments today. It has over 88K views and 2.5K likes. It also ranks high on YouTube search results for keywords like “how to make a picture move in a video”.
This YouTube Short has helped me reach new audiences who are interested in video creation and who might not have found me otherwise.
Always include a call to action at the end of your one-minute how-to videos
One of the best ways to leverage YouTube Shorts for your business is to create one-minute how-to videos that showcase your skills and expertise.
These videos can provide value to your viewers and demonstrate your authority on the topic. However, you don’t want to leave your viewers hanging after watching your one-minute video. You want to invite them to take the next step and visit your website where they can learn more from you.
That’s why you should always include a call to action at the end of your one-minute how-to videos. For example, you can say something like “See the comments section to download the full tutorial” or “Visit my website to get more tips and tricks”.
This will entice your viewers to click on the link and check out your website where you can offer them more value and capture their email address.
Pin a comment with a link to your website where viewers can download the full tutorial
One of the challenges of YouTube Shorts is that you can’t add clickable links or cards within the video itself.
This means that you have to rely on other ways to direct your viewers to your website. One of the most effective ways to do this is to pin a comment with a link to your website where viewers can download the full tutorial or access more resources.
Pinning a comment means that it will always appear at the top of the comment section and will be visible to anyone who watches your video. It will also make it easier for your viewers to find and click on the link without having to scroll through other comments.
For example, in one of my YouTube Shorts, I showed how to create a video intro using Capcut. At the end of the video, I said “See the comments section to download the full tutorial”.
Then I pinned a comment with a link to my website where viewers can download the full tutorial in embedded in Google Slides.
This strategy has helped me drive more traffic to my website and generate more leads for my business.
It has also helped me build my email list and grow my audience.
