How To Shoot Great Videos Without A Great Camera

Did you know you can shoot a great video with the camera you already have in your pocket?

Here’s an article that resonates with what I am trying to preach.

It’s starts off saying…

Have you ever heard anyone say, “This dinner is really good. What model oven did you use?” I haven’t either. Then why do people say, “Wow, great video. What camera did you use?”

This happens to me many times. People ask me to recommend the best camera. I study their needs, the type of video they want to make, and the audience they want to show to. I recommend the camera with the functions that match their requirement. Then they wander off to do more research and ordered the camera which is most hyped on youtube at the point of time. I slap my forehead when they start complaining. For example, they can’t see themselves while shooting with a Sony A7iii without lugging an external monitor around.

Back to the article, it goes on to elaborate…

Components of Good Storytelling.

Technically, these are the six most important components for telling a powerful visual story: focus, audio quality, lighting, composition, depth of field and color, roughly in that order. And most important, beyond the technical aspects, is an interesting subject matter and a compelling story.

Read about each technical aspect individually here…
