About the Feiyu Pocket 2S
Let’s start with the Pocket 2S. It’s better known for its detachable camera head, otherwise known as the Wearable Transform Pocket Camera. It’s made in China. Let’s break the plastic seal.
Unboxing the Feiyu Pocket 2S
First, there’s the paperwork. To find more features, scan the QR code. The quick start guide and a thank you note. Then there is a nice-looking pouch and the Pocket 2S.
It looks very light, but no, it’s got some weight. It feels metallic. The display is protected. The camera lens is protected and this cable here? We’ll talk about that later.
What else is there in the box?
What’s in the Box
There is the handle holder, the magnetic base with a quarter-inch screw hole, two 3M sticky rubber pads, one USB to USB-C cable, and two wristbands.
Let’s set it up!
Setting Up the Feiyu Pocket 2S
Turning on the Power
On the right-hand side of the handle is the power button. Press and hold to turn it on. I can see there are a few languages to choose from. I am going to pick English.
The default resolution is 1080p 30 frames per second and the battery level right out from the box is almost full.
Inserting a Micro SD Card
No card! The Micro SD card is not provided and we have to use at least a speed grade of U3. I’m going to insert the Micro SD card into the slot on the left-hand side. To format the card, swipe down the touch-screen. Swipe left to go into Settings and swipe left again. Tap on storage and tap on Format. Format SD card… okay. Format success… okay. Now, I have 119 Gigabytes. Hmm, I’m using a 128 GB card.
There are a lot more settings that we can do which I’ll cover later, but for now, let me fully charge the battery.
Charging the Battery
I will use the provided USB-Cb cable and plug it into the USB-C port on the left-hand side. I see a red indicator light while it’s charging. The other end of the USB cable goes to my favorite Anker Power Bank.
While it’s charging, let me turn off the Pocket 2S by holding on to the power button. Let me peel off the screen protector and also the camera lens protector.
All right, it’s 100 percent charged let’s find out what can this baby do.
Main Features
I’m going to cover all its main features very quickly.
Magnetic Detachable Gimbal Camera
The number one feature is the magnetic detachable gimbal camera head. The head is joined to the handle with a long cable this cable is about 3 feet long or about 1 meter long. There is a reel here that I can unscrew and remove. The detached camera is a 3-axis gimbal stabilizer. The magnetic base allows me to stick it onto any metallic surface.
Joystick Control
I can use the joystick to control the direction of the camera remotely.
Feiyu Cam App
If you really like remote control you can use the Feiyu Cam App.
Face Tracking
I can also turn on face tracking mode and let the camera follow me hands-free. It automatically detects my face without having me draw that square.
Ultra-wide Camera
The camera has got an ultra-wide lens of 130 degrees. The video recording resolution is up to 4k 60 frames per second.
Intuitive Control Handle
The control panel is simple. Only the joystick and the record button.
Built-in Mic and Speaker
It has got a built-in microphone and a built-in speaker.
HDMI Output Port
On the right-hand side near the bottom is a micro HDMI port.
Touch Screen Control
Swipe left to choose photo shooting video shooting, slow motion, time-lapse, or panorama. Swipe up to choose the gimbal mode. Swipe down for the settings. Swipe right to playback your recordings.
Pro Mode
There is a pro mode where we can adjust our exposure and white balance manually.

Before I go outdoors to do a test, let’s check out all the accessories that I’ve got.
Accessories
Mini Tripod
An essential item for me is the tripod. This tripod goes under the main unit.
Smartphone Holder
The smartphone holder. Slot in the unit on one side and a phone on the other side… and if I put a tripod at the bottom and the head back on top, I get a pretty neat device. This configuration is great if you need a bigger screen and a larger control panel.
Microphone Adapter
A video is not complete without audio. This is a microphone adapter that goes into the USB-C port.
Extension Rod
If you want something taller, there is the extension rod. Place the control handle into the slot. Take the magnetic base plate and screw on to the top and stick your camera on top. You can now extend the rod to about 1 meter long.
Carry Case
Here’s the most important accessory. The protection Carry Case. The Feiyu Pocket 2S fits nicely into this rubbery cushion.
I am now ready to go for the outdoor review.
