There are 3 new updates on the Samsung Galaxy S10 that are great for video content creation…
I am updating my training slides to bring the S10 higher up the recommended smartphone video camera list in the upcoming Smartphone Video Workshop in Singapore.
#1 AF/AE Lock
An AF/AE Lock feature in the native video camera app. This very essential feature has been missing for a long time that made me want to switch to other smartphone brands.
#2 Screen Record
A screen record button in the quick settings tray. Not only can It record the screen, but it can also record system sounds and record a webcam video your face picture-in-picture.
#3 Clean Interface
A cleaner camera interface with mode buttons. I can customize the layout so that I don’t have to scroll through a long list of camera modes just to choose the one I want.
The Samsung Galaxy S10 is my go-to smartphone video camera that is always with me.
What’s your favorite smartphone video camera?

An AF/AE Lock feature I discovered some time ago on my Galaxy S9.
Something similar I discovered at the Filmic Pro – double touch on round (E) and square (F) frames can switch AF/AE continuos lock to continuos auto.
S9 is my only smartphone and I use it as camera and music player.
The native Galaxy S9 video camera app is the best for me, very simple and effective. Especially with Zhiyun Smooth 4 gimbal. More: I do not use such fireworks like in-app slow motion (resolution is reduced). I record with the max parameters (4K/60fps) and then get slow motion effect with the help of one of PC apps.
I prefer the native camera app in comparison with Filmic Pro and ZY Play. Filmic Pro is more “pro” at stable studio environement, but difficult to use in the field with hugh sunlight. More: it is difficult for me to switch between Filmic Pro and ZY Play because those apps use Smooth 4 gimbal buttons in different way (interchanged functions). I regret to discover that you have to pay twice as much to use the full functionality of Filmic Pro, I mean basic app with an additional colour management set.
Best Regards,
Andrzej
There are 4 models of it, the cheapest is going to be $750 with the high end being $1,200 that has 5G capabilities. They’re also releasing a folding version of the phone that will be $1,900
